Feed: an evening of networked image and slogan feeding

Performed between ten and midnight on July 09, 2009
Feed: a project by De Geuzen: a foundation for multi-visual research (www.geuzen.org)

Feed was broadcast from the windows of the CBK, a center for contemporary art in Rotterdam. Over the course of the evening people uploaded images and slogans from near and remote locations. The collection was multi-authored and produced on the fly.

Thanks to Florian Cramer for filming, editing and selecting music for this documentation. And thanks to Piet Zwart Institute: Networked Media, CBK Rotterdam, PZI students, Leslie Robbins, Michael Murtaugh and Calum Selkirk.

—————–
Postcards From My Desktop: an attempt at really simple syndication, was an online performance using two simultaneous streams. As a part of the Double Bind series, a project curated by Annie Abrahams for Panoplie.org, the work was originally broadcast live on December 15, 2008.

With two streams on a single screen, the performance mixed RSS, real-time transcription and pre-written material. The video was broadcast at one frame per second and subject to the delay of the stream. There was also an open chat during the performance. As the RSS were simplified and re-transcribed, those texts were fed into the chat creating a kind of conspiratorial loop between performer and audience. The chat has been archived here.

De Geuzen:

Since 1996 I've also collaborated with Riek Sijbring and Femke Snelting under the name of De Geuzen. Below you'll find a link to our main page plus some highlighted projects which have radically informed my thinking about visual research, digital writing and narratives.
